In the framework of the project “Implementing the eco-industrial park initiative towards sustainable industrial park model in Vietnam”; The Project Management Unit (PMU) has coordinated with the Ninh Binh Industrial Management Board to organize a training course ” Improving production efficiency through applying resource efficiency and cleaner production”, which took place  from August 30 until August 31, 2017  in Ninh Binh.

Attending the course are the members of the Project Management Unit, representatives of the Industrial Zones Authority and representatives of 13 enterprises in Khanh Phu and Gian Khau Industrial Zones in Ninh Binh. The training was considered as a starting point for the chain of activities of the project to assist businesses in implementing the RECP within 8 months. The content of the training course is provided by experts of Viet Nam Cleaner Production Center (VNCPC), which aims to provide more knowledge to managers and technicians of enterprises, ntroduce concepts, benefits, methods and skills for effective implementation of resources and cleaner production in your business. This helps the team to improve the capacity of RE-CP; to help businesses use resources, energy efficiency and reduce environmental pollution, thereby contributing to the construction and development Gian Khau and Khanh Phu IZs into typical industrial eco- park of the locality.

Mr. Tran Duc Cuong – Representative of Ninh Binh Industrial Management Board  opened the training course

Opening the training course, Mr. Tran Duc Cuong – Representative of Management Board of Industrial Zones in Ninh Binh Province welcomed the presence of members of Project Management Unit; representatives of Industrial Zones Authority and representatives of enterprises in Khanh Phu and Gian Khau IZs in Ninh Binh attended. According to Tran Duc Cuong, in the past years, the application of Cleaner Production  in Vietnam has achieved considerable success. However, the implementation of Cleaner Prodution in enterprises still existed due to limited awareness of enterprises about the benefits of Cleaner Production. The dissemination of Cleaner Production as well as the deployment of technical demonstration models encountered many difficulties. Many enterprises have not applied sustainable production methods to improve the competitive position of enterprises. Mr. Cuong hopes that through this course, as well as the RECP program that the project is carrying out locally, it will help businesses overcome the shortcomings that contribute to sustainable production and protect the environment.

At the training courses, the project experts presented an overview of resource efficiency and cleaner production; guide the assessment methodology on resource efficiency and cleaner production in enterprises; survey, preliminary assessment and detail of raw materials, electrical energy, thermal energy, water, chemicals and waste streams, and the selection and implementation of RECP solutions. The project “Implementing the eco-industrial park initiative towards sustainable industrial park model in Vietnam” has been implemented in support of 43 enterprises in 4 Industrial Zones: Khanh Phu, Gian Khau (Ninh Binh) , Hoa Khanh (Da Nang) and Tra Noc 1 & 2 (Can Tho). It is expected that within 8 months, from August 2017 to April 2018, the project will continue to support 29 enterprises in 4 Industrial Zones on the activities of the RECP program such as: Training, training, evaluation, construction developing solutions for resource efficiency and cleaner production at participating enterprises;  implement selected solutions for resource efficiency and cleaner production; evaluate the effectiveness of the solutions  implemented in the business.

During the two days of training, participants had a better understanding of the concepts, benefits and methods of resource efficiency and cleaner production. After the course, Mr. Dinh Manh Thang, Senior Cleaner Producer of RE-CP, expects members to self-assess and develop solutions to improve production efficiency through the use of Resourceful and Cleaner Production in the future.
