Mr. Ralph Sims
Ralph Sims is Professor of Sustainable Energy at Massey University, New Zealand where he has researched renewable energy systems and climate change mitigation for several decades. He chaired the Royal Society of New Zealand panel for the 2016 study Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy for New Zealand and for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has led chapter teams of authors on Energy Supply (2007), Renewable Energy Integration (2011), and Transport (2014). He was Senior Researcher in the Renewable Energy Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris for four years, and for 6 years covered climate change mitigation as a member of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel for the Global Environment Facility (GEF, based in Washington D C and linked with UNEP and World Bank). He represented STAP on the World Bank Sustainable Cities programme. He has been contracted by UN Food and Agricultural Organisation to lead several projects on “energy-smart food” and has consulted for many business organisations.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha
Ms. Ha Thu Thi Nguyen is the Vice – Director Tan Long Package and Paper factory – A Chau Architecture and Trading Company limited. She is the first one promoting the ideas of Resource efficiency and cleaner production (RECP) in Tan Long Factory. After completing the training program and practice on RECP, she has shared her knowledge with the Board of Company and all employees. She goal is to make each employee of the company understand how environmental protection contribute to company success.

Mr. Timon Herzog
Over the last 15 years, Timon collected broad international experience in the renewable energy sector. Before joining Grips Energy AG as a member of the  board (COO) he worked with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), heading projects on behalf of the international climate initiative (IKI) of the German Ministry for the Environment (BMUB) in India. Prior to that he gained experience in M&A transactions for and operation of PV power plants for ALEA Energy Solutions AG and had a leading role in developing SOLON AGs international PV Power Plant business. Starting 2003 he was employed by SOLON AG covering different management positions, lastly as Head of Product Management. Before specializing in renewable energies, he gained entrepreneurial experience in the field of software development and digital media production starting in the early 1990s. Timon was born in Munich, Germany and graduated in European business administration.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Viet Anh

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Viet-Anh Nguyen is Director, Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering (IESE), Hanoi Civil Engineering University, Vietnam. He has about 22 years’ experience in the field of water and wastewater engineering, spending number of efforts in research and development of efficient water supply, low-cost decentralized sanitation systems, sludge and fecal sludge management and resource recovery, appropriate for the developing countries. Professor Viet-Anh has experiences in long-term and short-term water sector capacity building. He is active, and has strong national and international networking in this filed. Professor Viet-Anh has been involved in a number of consultancy works on sector policy development and appraisal, project design, construction, bid evaluation, monitoring and evaluation, etc. in Vietnam. Recently Professor Nguyen has been nominated as a Head of Science and Technology Department, Vietnam Association of Water Supply and Sewerage (VWSA), and also Vice President, Vietnam Association of Civil Engineering Environment (VACEE).

 

Mr. Junichi SONO

Mr. Junichi SONO is Director of Kitakyushu Asian Center for low Carbon Society, City of Kitakyushu . He graduated from Meiji University. Kitakyushu City has grown up a leading runner of environmental-friend city in spite of industrial city. Kitakyushu City laid out its own plans to brand itself as a “World Capital for Sustainable Development” and a “Technology Capital of Asia ” and received  many trainees from Asian countries and also dispatched our city staffs to Asian countries since 1980. At present City of Kitakyushu are promoting the concept of “Green Growth” toward the region of Asia. These activities of City of Kitakyushu have been highly evaluated at the global level. Recently, in July of 2011, Kitakyushu city was selected as a “Green Growth Model City” by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the first city in Asia, in which economic growth and environmental policies complement one another. Kitakyushu Eco Town is one of the core projects of their “Green Growth Model City” and Mr. SONO is a key person of this project.

Mr. Tobias Cossen

Mr. Tobias Cossen is an employee of GIZ (German Development Cooperation) and presently based in Hanoi/Vietnam. He is the Director of the Vietnamese-German bilateral cooperation project “Smart Grids for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency” implemented in cooperation with the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT). Since 2016, Mr. Cossen is also the Director of the bilateral project for the “Support to the Upscaling of Wind Power in Vietnam”. Prior to his posting in Vietnam, Tobias Cossen worked from 2012 until 2016 for GIZ in Berlin, being responsible for renewable energy business partnerships between German and private sector actors in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. From 2009 until 2012, he worked for the renewable energy project developer JUWI being responsible for the establishment of the regional office in Costa Rica/ Central America and the development of the regional wind energy portfolio including the implementation of total 65 MW. Tobias holds a master´s degree on Regional Studies Latin America, Macro and Energy Economics from the University of Cologne.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Lieu

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Lieu is a official in Waste Management Department, Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA), Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment (MONRE). She holds a PhD. Degree in Environment Geology from Greifwald University, (Germany). She is a former Head of Environmental Protection in River basin and Coastal zone, Department of Waste management and Improvement environment, VEA. In recent position, her main duty is in field of pollution control in industrial parks and craft villages.

                                        Mr. Nam Vinh Dinh

Mr. Nam Vinh Dinh holds Master degree in Science & Technology at University of East Anglia, UK. He is currently working in Department of Technology Appraise, Assessment and Examination, Ministry of Science and Technology. His work involves to activities such as: Advise the Government on policies related to science and technology; Technology appraise, assessment and examination for investment projects,… especially in the field of environment such as solid waste process, waste to energy, water treatment technology, wasted material process… in Vietnam. He is also member of Editorial Team of Technology Transfer Law 2017 (Promulgated in June 2017).

Mr. Thanh Son CHU

Mr. Thanh Son CHU was born in 1959 in Hai Duong province.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chinese literature from Hanoi University of Economics (1981), BA in Finance and Accounting, Ho Chi Minh University of Finance (1989) and Master of Business Administration (AIT) in Thailand (2012).
Currently, he is the Deputy General Director of Sonadezi Corporation and Chairman of Sonadezi Long Binh Corporation.
Prior to that he had held various positions: General Director of Sonadezi Long Thanh Joint Stock Company, Vice Chairman of Amata Vietnam Joint Stock Company and Director of Giang Dien Industrial Park Services.

Ms. Vu Tuong Anh

Tuong Anh has 25-year experience in climate change and sustainability. Her technical expertise is ranging from resource efficiency, energy efficiency, clean energy and waste management to circular economy. Currently, she is leading the Vietnam Industrial Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Energy Finance programs at International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of World Bank Group. Prior to joining IFC, Anh was Deputy Director of Vietnam National Cleaner Production Center, managing a wide-range of projects related to cleaner production, energy efficiency, waste management and sustainable designs. Anh holds an MSc in Environmental Technology and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology.

Mr. Hoang Duc LE

Mr. Hoang Duc LE holds Master degree in Technology. He is the Deputy Director of Hi-tech and Industrial Parks Authority. He has also been member of Management Board for the Project “Implementation of Eco-Industrial Park Initiative for Sustainable Industrial Zones in Viet Nam”. In this position, he has actively cooperated with MPI to facilitate the transition of Hoa Khanh Industrial park following eco-industrial park model.

Dr. Heinz Leuenberger

Dr. Heinz Leuenberger is an international expert in the field of natural resource efficiency and cleaner industrial production; specifically, in the design, implementation and operation of eco- industrial parks, and in operationalizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the associated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the private sector at the enterprise level. He has extensive experiences in technology, capacity building and policy advice. Dr. Leuenberger lectures on sustainable industrial development at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), serves as a member of Trustees for a Swiss research institution and conducts studies for the Swiss Government as well as for for the private sector. He worked from November 2014 to October 2017 as the Chief Technical Advisor for three international projects run by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), converting three industrial parks to eco-industrial parks in Viet Nam, launching a pilot national Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) program in Myanmar, and supporting the national RECP centre in the Ukraine. Prior to October 2014, Dr. Leuenberger served for eight years as the Director of the Environmental Management Branch (EMB) of UNIDO. During his tenure at UNIDO, Dr. Leuenberger furthermore coordinated the redesign and strengthening of the global “Joint UNIDO-UNEP Programme on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production in Developing and Transition Countries” and was primarily responsible for the design, formulation and implementation of UNIDO’s flagship “Green industry Initiative” and the “Green industry Platform”. Dr. Leuenberger holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry, and a second Master’s degree in International Relations, as well as a PhD in Chemistry from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

Mr. Tran Van Nhan

Mr. Tran Van Nhan is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology (INEST), Hanoi University of Technology (HUST), Vietnam. His main research activities lay in field of environmental technologies and management, including Cleaner Production (CP) and all of its aspects, such as process assessment, resource and energy efficiency. Besides this, he also conducted a number of training, in-plants demonstrations, consultancy and raising awareness on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production, and Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) for different industrial sectors. Mr. Nhan has published a number of articles on cleaner production and environmental protection. He has also written and co-authored several books, among which are: Environmental Ecology, and Waste Water Treatment Technology. Mr. Tran Van Nhan served as Director of the INEST from 2001 to 2008 and Director of the VNCPC Co Ltd from 2009 to 8/2018. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Asia Pacific Roundtables for CP/SCP (1997 – 2007), and Member of the UNIDO-UNEP Global RECP-net’s Executive Committee (2011 -2013). Mr. Tran Van Nhan holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Hanoi University of Technology, Master in Environmental Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Thailand) and Engineer in Chemical Technology from the Mendeleyev Chemico-Technological Institute of Moscow (MXTU, Russia).

Mr. Bruno Fux

Bruno Fux, Swiss National, has a Master in Management from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He spent thirteen years of his career in waste management and lead projects in more than 30 countries around the world. Currently, Bruno is the Director of Ecocycle in Vietnam, a company that provides sustainable waste management solutions through co-processing. Bruno is as well lecturer at the Swiss Distance University of Applied Sciences.

Mr. Dr. Ernst Grigat

Dr. Ernst Grigat has an industrial career of more than 25 years as researcher, strategic planner and production director with the companies Bayer, Lanxess, Currenta. In this function he was based in Germany, USA, Belgium, but did also additional projects in China, India and Russia. For more than a decade he was the head of “CHEMPARK“, consisting of three chemical parks in Germany with 45.000 employees. His last positions was Senior Vice-President and managing director where he was responsible for the transformation of the previous “Bayer-sites“ to “CHEMPARK “ which is widely considered as an innovative and successful concept in industrial park development. Beside this Ernst provided advisory support as international consultant for concepts, planning and improvement of chemical/industrial areas in different parts of the world. Ernst Grigat holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cologne.

Mr. Alessandro FLAMMINI

Mr. Alessandro FLAMMINI is currently project administrator within the Department of Environment of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria, working chiefly on the development of eco-industrial parks. Before joining UNIDO in 2018, he was project manager (Natural Resources Officer) with the Climate, Energy and Environment Department and the Investment Centre of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), where he worked since 2007. Until 2015, he also worked as independent consultant for UNDP, the European Commission, REEEP, Stanford University, as well as for other public and private companies. Mr. FLAMMINI holds a master degree on industrial engineering (University of Bologna, 2006), a post-grad master in management of energy resources (SAFE, 2007) and a PhD in environmental sciences (Vienna University of Technology, 2012).

Mr. Ajeya Bandyopadhyay

With over 15 years of experience in strategy consulting, Ajeya is presently a Partner of Infrastructure & Government Advisory of KPMG (India). He advices various government bodies, international organisations and IFIs on issues like climate policy, climate and green financing, resource efficiency and low-carbon transformation. Previously, he was a Director, Advisory Services of Ernst & Young.
Over the past five years, Ajeya worked internationally on government policies, operational standards and guidelines for Eco-Industrial Zone and sustainable industrialisation in emerging economies like Bangladesh, Vietnam and India. He co-authored the IFC (World Bank Group) publication – ‘Low Carbon Zone Handbook’ and ‘Mainstreaming Eco-Industrial Park’. He also presented in a number of global forums on Green FDI. Currently he is also involved in advising the Govt. of India on national material recycling policy.

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Chuc

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Chuc is Director General of Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CENSUD) and Deputy Director General of the Institute of Regional Sustainable Development (IRSD), Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS). His research interests include technical efficiency, technological capacities, economic development and planning, industrial ecology, small and medium enterprises, foreign direct investment, global value chain. Mr. Chuc initiated various research projects and authored a number of publications on both Vietnamese and international journals on different topics. He is consultant for various international organizations and large companies, including the World Bank, UNIDO, UNDP, ADB, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Google, PwC, Ernst and Young,… on spectrum of issues. Currently his focus is on circular economy and its application, including eco-industrial park development, in Vietnam. He actively participates in development of national technical guidelines for eco-industrial parks for Vietnam and is currently leading a team to conduct the socio-economic requirements for eco-industrial parks in Vietnam. He received Master of Public Policy from Hitotsubashi University, Japan, and PhD in Management Science from Aston University, UK.

Mr. Duy Dong TRAN

Mr. Duy Dong TRAN is the Director General of the Department for Local and Regional Economy of Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Vietnam. From 2014 to October 2018, he hold the position of Director General of Department for Economic Zones Managemen (MPI). He is a member of the National Steering Committee for Industrial parks and economic zones Development. He has much experience in managing and developing industrial park, export processing zone and economic zones mangagement and foreign direct investment. Mr. Duy Dong TRAN is the National Project Director of the project Implementation of Eco – industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Vietnam”. The Project is funded by GEF, SECO and UNIDO which is implemented for more than 4 years, since 2015. He is currenty efforting for promoting the institutionalization of eco-industrial park in Vietnam. He hold Master of Science Degree with major in Public Policy from Histoshibashu University in Japan in 2006 and is pursuing the doctoral decree on Economic Management.

Mr. Smail ALHILALI

Mr. Smail ALHILALI is currently the chief of the Emerging Compliance Regimes Division within the Department of Environment of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria. Since 2007, he has been responsible of the implementation of resource efficient and cleaner production related projects in developing countries and emerging economies. Moreover, he is the technical lead for the development of UNIDO global Eco-industrial Park Programme and the international framework for eco-industrial parks jointly established by WBG, GiZ and UNIDO. Before joining UNIDO, he was the director of Morocco national cleaner production centre (CMPP, 2003-2007) and served in different positions within the National Centre for Energy, Science and Technology in Morocco (CNESTEN, 1994-2003). Mr. ALHILALI holds a master degree on mechanical engineering (Morocco, Rabat, EMI, 1993) and on nuclear safety engineering (France, Saclay, INSTN, 1994).

Ms. Thao Le

Ms. Thao Le is the Country Representative of UNIDO Vietnam Office. Ms. Thao has been working for nearly twenty years in the area of industrial and business development at both grass-root practical and policy levels. She has been working for UNIDO Viet Nam Country Office since 2008 as National Programme Officer and then Country Representative, coordinating and monitoring UNIDO on-going projects and programmes in various areas including private sector/SME development, business environment, industrial and trade competitiveness, energy and environment, eco-industrial park, green industry, etc..  Prior joining UNIDO, she managed her own business on investment consulting and export/trade promotion for manufacturing sub-sectors. During her work at UNIDO Viet Nam, Ms. Thao has also involved in researches and policy advice to the Government of Viet Nam on Industrial Competitiveness, Investment Promotion, Green Industry, Science Technology and Innovation. She got the Executive MBA at the Shidler College of Business, University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA (in 2004-2006). She graduated from Hanoi Foreign Trade University on Extenal Economics.

Mrs. Beatrice Maser Mallor

Mrs. Maser presented her credentials on October 19th, 2015 and is the Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam. Mrs. Maser led, since December 1st 2008, Switzerland’s Economic Development and Cooperation activities. As a Member of the Board of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Ambassador and Delegate of the Federal Council for Trade Agreements, she was responsible for the bilateral economic and trade policy measures with developing and transition countries as well as for the contribution to the new EU member states. In addition, she served as Switzerland’s Governor in three regional development banks (ADB, AfDB, IDB) and as Vice-Governor in the European Development Bank (EBRD). From 2004 to 2008, Mrs. Maser was the Head of Export and Investment Promotion, which included the responsibility for the Swiss Export Credit Agency as well as the negotiations in the Export Credit Arrangement of the OECD and the Paris Club debt rescheduling. From 2001 to 2004, Mrs. Maser was seconded to the Financial Institutions Department in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, working on its Trade Finance Program and on green credit lines. Mrs. Maser entered the Federal Office for Foreign Economic Affairs in 1995 and worked on private sector promotion and infrastructure financing (Head of Unit) with developing and transition countries. Previously, she worked at FUNDES in La Paz, Bolivia providing credit financing guarantees to SMEs. From 1989 to 1994 Mrs. Maser worked at Swiss Bank Corporation in Zurich and New York (Associate Director for Trade Finance Latin America). In 1988 Mrs. Maser graduated from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich as an Architect and completed in 1998 her Postgraduate Studies on Developing Countries. In 2009 she earned an Executive MBA in Business Engineering from the University of St. Gallen.
