On Friday afternoon 25/05/2018, at 1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Ha Noi , Institute for Regional Sustainable Development (IRSD) (under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) organized a workshop “Report on the pilot training results and discuss the roadmap to build the study program on Eco-industrial Park”. The main objective of the training course is to report results of 2 pilot training courses: “Eco-Industrial Park – Theory and Practice” were held in April and consultation with delegates on the possibility of developing the content of the Eco- Industrial Park into official subjects for the university and postgraduate training institutions.
The training was held successfully with the attendance of Mr. Tran Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Graduate Academy of Social Sciences (GASS); Mr, Nguyen Dinh Chuc Depury Director of IRSD, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of Department for Economic Zones Management – The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Ms.Tran Thanh Phuong ,Project Manager “Implementation of Eco – industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Vietnam” and the delegates are experts and scholars from the research institute, National Economic University, Graduate Academy of Social Sciences.
From September 2017 until now, within the framework of the project “Implementation of Eco – industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Vietnam”, the Graduate Academy of Social Sciences (GASS) coordinates with the Institute for Regional Sustainable Development (IRSD) to develop training content on Eco- Industrial Park, proceed to study addition to the training program of the Academy. The framework of the training program on Eco- Industrial Park has been developed, the contents of the Eco- Industrial Park are integrated in the overall approach of industrial ecology,economic cyclicality and sustainable development. The VASS organized successfully 2 pilot courses Master students and PhD students of three faculties: Public Policy, Business Studies and Sustainable Development in April 2018, all courses are integrated in pratical activities in Industrial Park
Initially, the contents and forms of the course were well received by the trainees. At the workshop , the GASS and the IRSD reported in detail the results of two pilot courses. Based on the discussions at the workshop today, The MPI will continue to work with stakeholders to develop a roadmap for formally proposing the introduction of Eco-Industrial Park Subjects into the undergraduate and postgraduate education system.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Tuan, the development of a training program which is based on the integration of the opinions of all stakeholders, especially comes from the actual needs of traineescan get the best results for the training, teaching not only this subjects, this may be an effective approach for reforming existing curricula from a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge.. He also expects with the close collaboration between the GASS as a teaching institution, the MPI as a strategic development agency , and the IRSD as a research institution, will provide the training course in essence, directly linked with the development needs of the country, contribute to the sustainable development of the country.
