On Tuesday, August 16th 2016, a dissemination workshop of the Project “Implementation of Eco-industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Vietnam” was held in Da Nang city, Vietnam. Delegates from thirty enterprises in Hoa Khanh Industrial Zone were present including six companies that participated in the 1st phase of the project, eight companies involved in the 2nd phase.
The workshop kicked-off by an opening keynote of Mr. Tran Duy Dong, General Director of Economic Zones Management Department – Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam, in which he provided an overview of recent developments of industrial zones in Vietnam and the need for a new eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable model, and by that he urged Hoa Khanh Industrial Zone enterprises to actively participate in the project.
Dr. Do Trong Mui from Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre (VNCPC) presented technical supporting activities, trainings, and solutions implemented during the first phase. This was supported by the business case of the representatives from COSEVCO Co. Ltd., and Asia Architecture and Trade Co. Ltd., who described benefits and advantages their companies have received as a result of the project.
The workshop was supplemented by the presentation of Mr. Dominic Meinardi from AKIZ – a Vietnamese – German Joint Research Project (“AKIZ” = “Integriertes Abwasserkonzept für Industriezonen”). Mr. Dominic Meinardi’s speech briefly introduced the AKIZ project, and covered the work they have done on regarding wastewater treatment in industrial zones of Vietnam.
The workshop concluded with an awarding ceremony to honor the efforts of companies who have participated actively in the first phase of the project.
