On June 29, 2018, Ms. Vuong Thi Minh Hieu, Department for Economic Zones Management – Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) led the delegationattended the 6th GEF Assembly to visit the Hoa Khanh industrial zone in Da Nang to witness some of the achievements of the multi-focal GEF-funded project “Implementation of eco-industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Vietnam”.Selected company is Da Nang Secoin Joint Stock Company
Da Nang Secoin Joint Stock Company is one of 72 companies participating in the project’s Resource efficiency and Cleaner production (RECP) program . The company specializes in producing brick and tile art products made from cement.During the time involved in RECP activities( from August 2017 until April 2018), company has achieved several significant benefits from the project. The project’s experts have proposed 11 RECP solutions for enterprises, of which the company has effectively implemented 4 solutions. There are some benefits when they implement the proposed solutions such as saving 18,343 kWh of electricity per year, reducing 15 tons of C02 emissions into the environment, reducing 1.55 μg Teq thus helping enterprises saving more than 29 million VND per year.
A representative of the company said that joining the project was a right decision with the initial goal of receiving expert advice to improve the efficiency of the production process and enhance the competitiveness.. After 08 months, with the priority of implementing solutions with low investment cost, the company can save nearly 30 million VND per year .They also expect in the coming time the EIP project will continue to support businesses to achieve specific results, bringing many benefits for participating enterprises.
