Based on Project Document and Decision of the Minister of Planning and Investment establishing the Project Steering Committee (PSC), on 10/1/2017, the Ministry of Planning and Investment organized a Project Steering Committee Meeting to assess periodically the implementation of the project in 2016, approve a plan for the year 2017 and give solutions to existing problems in the project implementation process.

The training was held successfully with the attendance of Mr. Tran Duy Dong – Director General of Department for Economic Zones Management, National Project Director, Mr. Miroslav Delaporte –SECO Country Director in Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Thao – National Programme Officer, UNIDO Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Uyen – representative from GEF, Mr. Jerome Stucki – Project Manager UNIDO Head Quarter, Mr Heinz Leuenberger – Chief technical advisor. Participants of the meeting also includes other members of PSC from relevant Ministries, representatives from Industrial Zones Management Board in Ninh Binh, Da Nang, and Can Tho as well as other doners and Project Management Unit’s members.

Mr. Jerome Stucki presented the Project Financial Disbursement Status in 2016

Year 2016 is considered as a crucial year of the Project. With the coordination between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the doners, a lot of activities was implemented and achieved many impressive results at all level: company, industrial zone, institutional policies and capacity building. One of them was to organize Expert Group Meeting in Hoi An on 29-30/9/2016. Although there exists many difficulties in the implementation process but year 2017 is expected to be another successful year of the project such as reviewing the legal documents related to industrial parks, conducting research and giving recommendations for industrial symbiosis, writing guidelines for Eco-industrial parks, etc.

In addition, the Project Financial Disbursement Status was also carefully reported. The meeting received a lot of comments from the participants. Especially, all members of the PSC agreed with the proposal of extending the project for an additional 2-year period./.
