Policy level

– Provided inputs in the 4 EIP-specified chapters in the final draft of the New Decree (in replacement of the acting Decree 28/2008/ND-CP and Decree 164/2013/ND-CP); the final draft decree has been submitted to the Government for approval

– Developed and finalized the EIP technical guideline (environmental aspect) – this activity was conducted in cooperation with IFC-WBG; the guideline will serve as technical input for developing a Circular on EIP (after the new decree is approved)

Industrial zone level

– The 3 centralized waste water treatment plants of the 3 pilot industrial zones was assessed and provided with recommendation for performance improvement (the recommendation will be implemented in 2018, selectively)

– Capacity at central and provincial levels on EIP planning and management was built via a study tour to Japan and China for Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Can Tho’s IZ Management Authorities, Department for Natural Resources and Environment and the IZ Infrastructure developers

– Studied and discussed the possibility for industrial symbiosis implementation in Hoa Khanh IZ in Da Nang; the options will be further analyzed to be implemented in 2018; Khanh Phu IZ and Tra Noc IZ will be studied next.

– Completed the Solid waste inventory in 3 pilot IZs; the result will be further analyzed in 2018 study for Waste Synergy/Recycle/Reuse.

Company level

– Continued the RECP Audit in the pilot IZs for 25 new companies

– Conducted the Satisfactory Survey to all participated companies in 4 pilot industrial zones and Participation Survey to another 100 companies in 5 industrial zones (including pilots industrial zones) which proved great expectation of participating in project in next phase

Trainings:

– Conducted 05 training courses on Safe Use, Handle and Management of Chemical in Industry (by international and national trainers), in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ninh Binh and Can Tho

– Conducted a training on GEF tracking tool in Hanoi

– Conducted 3 RECP trainings (in Ninh Binh, Da Nang and Can Tho) for newly registerd companies

– Sponsored for 2 staff of MPI to participate a training course on Eco-town in Japan

Workshop and conferences:

– Co-organized a workshop on EIP for Sustainable Development: from Concept to application (with Vietnam Academy of Social Science and the Institute of Regional Sustainable Development)

– Co-organized 2 workshops on the EIP technical guideline, 1 in Hanoi and 1 in Ho Chi Minh (with IFC-WBG)

– Co-organized a workshop on Industrial Symbiosis for Hoa Khanh Industrial zone (with IFC-WBG)

– Organized 2 dissemination workshops in Da Nang and Can Tho to showcase the 2^nd RECP intervention results (for 2^nd RECP audit)

– Participated in the World Circular Economy Forum 2017 in Findland

– Participated in the World Resource Forum 2017 in Switzerland
