Mr. Peter Lowitt is Director of the Devens Enterprise Commission and co-chair of the Eco Industrial Development/Industrial Symbiosis Section of the International Society of Industrial Ecology.  At Devens, Mr. Lowitt focuses on the sustainable redevelopment of the 4400-acre former army base located in north central Massachusetts in the United States.  In this capacity he developed programs to promote eco-industrial networking and Devens as an Eco-Industrial Park. Prior to coming to Devens, Mr. Lowitt served as Director of Planning and Economic Development for the Town of Londonderry, New Hampshire (1993-1999) where he created the Londonderry Ecological Industrial Park.

Mr. Lowitt is the chair of the Eco Industrial Development Council of North America. He has been active in the planning and economic development profession and was elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners.  He has published a numerous articles including “Putting the Eco into Eco-Industrial Parks” (2013) and “Eco-Industrial Development in the United States: analysing progressfrom 2010-2015” (2015).  He holds a BA in history from Brown University (1979) and a Masters in Urban Environmental Policy (1992) from Tufts University.
