The Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the Vietnam Cleaner Production Center Limited Company (VNCPC) presented the findings of the feasibility study on industrial symbiosis and its implementation in Vietnam at a workshop held in Ninh Binh on 4 April 2019. The workshop also heard a report on 4 possible solutions for industrial symbiosis implementation   proposed for Khanh Phu  and Gian Khau Industrial Parks in Ninh Binh.

High on the agenda of the workshop was the experience sharing from the experts of Sofies Group, an international sustainability project management and consulting firm from Switzerland, and of Japan and Korea.  Representatives of Ninh Binh Industrial Zones Authority and the enterprises in Khanh Phu & Gian Khau Industrial Zones discussed the economic and technical factors which ensured the success of industrial symbiosis implementation from the international experts. They discussed the situation in Vietnam and in their industrial zones and  identified their plan.

Earlier on 2 April 2019, a similar workshop was held in Can Tho.

Identification of feasible solutions to the implementation of industrial symbiosis and urban-industrial symbiosis is part of UNIDO’s technical supports to transform the existing industrial zones in Viet Nam towards eco-industrial parks.
