On June 29, 2018, representative of the Project Management Unit “Implementation of eco-industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Viet Nam” (EIP) led the delegation attended the 6th GEF Assembly  to visit  the Hoa Khanh industrial zone in Da Nang to witness some of the achievements of the multi-focal GEF-funded project EIP. Selected company is DIC- Da Nang Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company.

DIC- Da Nang Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company is one of 72 companies participating in the project’s Resource efficiency and Cleaner production (RECP) program . The company specializes in producing brick and tile products made from cement. During the time involved in RECP activities, company has achieved several significant benefits from the project. The project’s experts have proposed 12 RECP solutions for enterprises, of which the company has effectively implemented 8 solutions. There are some benefits when they implement the proposed solutions such as saving 19,800 kWh of electricity per year, reducing 16.14 tons of C0₂ emissions into the environment, reducing 1.68 μg Teq thus helping enterprises saving more than 55 million VND per year.

A representative of the company said that after 8 months participating in the project, with the priority of implementing solutions with low investment cost, the company has saved more than 50 million VND per year. They will continue to implement proposed solutions and wish in the coming time the EIP Project will continue to support enterprises to achieve specific results, bring more benefits to participating businesses.
