The Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the Vietnam Cleaner Production Center Limited Company (VNCPC) presented the findings of the feasibility study on industrial symbiosis and its implementation in Vietnam at a workshop held in Can Tho on 2 April 2019. The workshop also heard a report on 4 possible solutions for industrial symbiosis implementation  proposed for Tra Noc 1&2  Industrial Parks in Can Tho.

High on the agenda of the workshop was the experience sharing from the experts of Sofies Group, an international sustainability project management and consulting firm from Switzerland, and of Japan and Korea.  Representatives of Can Tho City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority and the enterprises in Tra Noc 1&2 Industrial Zones discussed the economic and technical factors which ensured the success of industrial symbiosis implementation from the international experts. They discussed the situation in Vietnam and in their industrial zones and  identified their plan.

Two similar training workshops will be held in Ninh Binh on 4 April 2019 and Da Nang on 17 April 2019.

Identification of feasible solutions to the implementation of industrial symbiosis and urban-industrial symbiosis is part of UNIDO’s technical supports to transform the existing industrial zones in Viet Nam towards eco-industrial parks.
