Within the framework of the project “Implementation of Eco – industrial park initiative for sustainable industrial zones in Vietnam”, on June 11, 2018 , in Ninh Binh Province, the Ministry of Planning and Investment  (MPI) has coordinated with Ninh Binh Industrial Zones Authority to organize a dissemination workshop ” Resource efficiency and Cleaner production for enterprise ( batch 2)” (RECP).The EIP project  is funded by the Global Environment Protection Fund (GEF) and the Swiss Federal Office for Economic Affairs (SECO). Four pilot industrial parks were selected for the project: Khanh Phu & Gian Khau (Ninh Binh), Hoa Khanh (Da Nang) and Tra Noc 1 & 2 (Can Tho). There were 26 enterprises in Khanh Phu and Gian Khau Industrial Parks participated in the workshop with the participation of about 40 participants.

The workshop kicked-off by an opening keynote of Ms. Vuong Thi Minh Hieu, Economic Zones Management Department – MPI, National Project Coordinator. According to her, through the implementation of activities to support enterprises to improve production efficiency, the project has gradually received the support and confidence of enterprises in the pilot IPs due to the practical benefits that the project brings . Mr. Hoang Duc Long – Head of Management Board of Industrial Zones in Ninh Binh Province noted the active participation of enterprises in the past and expect the project will be expanded to other industrial parks in Ninh Binh.

After two rounds of consultancy, training and implementation of measures to RECP in the enterprises in the pilot industrial parks in the province (from January, 2016  until  April, 2018), EIP project has achieved many remarkable results : Reduction of about 6943 tons of CO2 emissions into the environment , saving nearly 14 trillion VND from reducing the use of electricity, water, coal and chemicals.  Representatives of two companies, Has Fashion Co., Ltd and K’s International Plastics JSC, Vietnam, shared the practical results gained from participating in the project. Although the cost is not significant but the benefits are quite large. Has Fashion Co., Ltd reduced 28.1% electricity, 21% water, (saving about 193 million per year). K’s International Plastic JSC Vietnam saves about 208 million VND per year.

To recognize the participation of individuals and businesses in the past, representatives from MPI  and representatives of Management Board of Industrial Zones in Ninh Binh Province awarded certificates to individuals and enterprises in Khanh Phu and Gian Khau IZs for training and practice resource efficiency and cleaner production and awarded the souvenir trophy for the typical practice enterprise is Has Fashion Co., Ltd.
