The overall objective of the EGM is to reach a common understanding of EIP developments in the Vietnamese context as well as to agree on a framework of minimum requirements EIP in Vietnam have to meet in order to be characterized in this regard. This is to be supported by recommendations on national policies, guidelines and legislations to facilitate the transformation of existing IZs into EIPs and identified methods for retrofitting existing IQ into EIPs in Vietnam.

The following topics will be covered during the EGM:

• Current situation and trends in Vietnam regarding EIPs;
• Defining EIPs;
• Requirements and opportunities for EIP management;
• Methods and working steps towards retrofitting existing IZs towards EIPs in Vietnam; and,
• Legal Framework for EIPs.

The structure and methodology of the EGM will consist of presentations and interactive group breakout sessions and common discussions in the plenary with the participants. The EGM is additionally intended to provide an opportunity for bilateral discussions.

The EGM will be documented through photo essays and short reports by a dedicated communication company. This will enable efficient communication and follow-up activities to share information and increase awareness on the achieved results and recommendations generated in the course of the meeting.

An outcome document will be published in www.khucongnghiepsinhthai.vn and www.eipvn.org as a result of the EGM including a report on the proceedings, recommendations and key lessons.
